- Helloween from a USB stick through the car stereo.
- Been semi-binge-watching Andromeda (usually 4 episodes a day) lately.
- Also working my way through Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars trilogy. He does OK on the physics, but the rest is unintentional comedy.

Second-to-last sentence of the article —
“Unfortunately, it’s not available for civilian use.”
The statutory provisions that prohibit civilian possession of these (and the bigger M134 it was derived from) — the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Hughes Amendment of 1986, etc., — are completely contrary to the explicit written sentiments of the Founders who drafted the Second Amendment.

If there isn’t one in Chama, feel free to start your own. Send me the details (location, date, time, etc.) and I’ll get it posted.

So when you come to us to take away our guns, Dirk, make sure to carry a dildo in each hand, OK ?
Or will that be a dildo in one hand and a bong in the other?

So, Dirk, you really want to take away all of the firearms in the United States owned by private-sector civilians?
Let’s take a look at what that would entail —

CSM Paul Howe (the author of that article) was an assaulter with “Delta Force” during the “Blackhawk Down” incident in Somalia back in 1993. When he wasn’t blowing in doors with explosive charges and clearing rooms, he was either training to do it or training others to do it as his full-time occupation.

Now let’s take a look at the current stats on the United States —
- America has 12,000 miles of basically unenforceable borders and coastlines. Law enforcement only stops about five percent of the drugs being smuggled into the country. And read your headlines for the GOP caterwauling about illegal immigrants — “they’re stealing our jobs! they’re all rapists and murderers!” Yet supposedly there’s 11 million of them already inside the country.
When the powers that be outlaw a commodity that’s in demand, whether it’s unsanctioned drugs or unsanctioned labor, someone will find a way to make money in satisfying that demand. Outlawing guns will simply allow organized crime, whether it’s the Mafia that was supposedly wiped out, the biker gangs or the street gangs, to get further into the weapons market.
- America has the world’s largest amount of firearms already in the civilian sector. F-Troop estimates that number to be around 300-320 million. Other estimates push the number as much as twice or three times the official estimate.
- America has the world’s largest supply of precision machine tools. I read a comment posted to an article by a machinist that said it wouldn’t matter if guns were illegal — all he needed was time and metal, and he could make any weapon he wanted.
- 60-70 percent of American military and law enforcement personnel are supportive of the Second Amendment, and either libertarian or conservative leaning. These are the people you will insist conduct for you the confiscation raids that CSM Howe talked about in the article linked to above. Because we both know that you don’t have what it takes, right?
- In the states where restrictive laws have been implemented, compliance is spotty at best. Connecticut insisted that “assault weapon” owners register them after the Sandy Hook massacre — only five percent or so actually did, and state government there gave up insisting that everyone register them after it turned out that 68% of Connecticut’s cops would be among those required to register.
- Most of America’s food production areas (“Flyover Country” is what Frau Reichsecretary Hillary’s friends call it) is decidely pro-gun. Are you prepared and willing to raise your own vegetables, grain, beef, fish, pork, chickens?
