    Besides, rebooting a franchise is mostly done by lazy writers, in my opinion, and the only case where the reboot has been demonstrably better than the original was Battlestar Galactica.

    Back in 1985-1986, Gene Roddenberry was working on bringing Star Trek back to television. Salaries for the original cast members were too much for the budget he had available, so he cast a group of then-unknown actors. Thus Star Trek: The Next Generation was born.

    Star Trek: The Next Generation ran seven seasons to The Original Series’ three, and yielded four feature films, to boot.

    Star Trek: The Next Generation was followed by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, each of which ran for seven seasons, then by Star Trek: Enterprise, which ran for four seasons.
