The Weekly Sedition
Hi! Some of you reading this page may know that I’ve been involved in politics for awhile. Others might not. Doesn’t matter either way.
In short, I am an anarchist-leaning small-‘l’ libertarian, an extropian, a small-‘o’ objectivist, and a panarchist.
The Long Version –
Who owns you? Who runs your life? Who wipes your ass?
Who SHOULD – YOU or SOMEONE ELSE?
Principles
- If you’re not hurting anyone else with what you do, you’ve got every right in the world to do it.
- People in general will do good when left to look after themselves.
- Science and technology are basically good for human development.
- You can do whatever you want with, to or for any other consenting adult, on your property or that other person’s property.
- I am not obliged to support, endorse, condone, celebrate or join in what you do as a consenting adult.
Attitudes
- I favor the private sector over the public sector for the most part.
- The scope of government authority should be limited to protecting the liberty and pursuit of happiness of its constituents.
- People who use the political-legal sector to get what they want from those who don’t consent deserve no sympathy for anything bad that happens to them.
- Government doesn’t actually produce anything – all it can give you is what it takes from others.
- Being “negative” against government is a good thing, in that government is a per se “negative” — just as -1 x -1 = 1.
- Anyone who advocates new or more restrictive laws, new or more expensive spending programs, or new or higher taxes, is my opponent in the political realm.
To paraphrase from the medical profession, “First, do no harm.”
- Barry Goldwater was right on the money when he said “Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
- Lord Acton had it down when he wrote “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
- Ayn Rand was on the right track in many ways, but it’s probably not a good to idea to idolize her as a pseudo-deity.
Points to Ponder
Marijuana is just as American as tobacco, moonshine, tax evasion, handguns and “assault weapons.”
Football is a waste of a perfectly good pistol and rifle range, conveniently marked off at 10-yard intervals.
Keep your kids off drugs — teach them to shoot.
I subscribe to the Non-Aggression Principle [NAP], also known as the Zero Aggression Principle [ZAP] —
No human being has the right – under any circumstances —
to initiate force against another human being, nor to threaten,
incite or delegate its initiation.
One day in late September 1967, shortly after we arrived at Chu Lai, the major got a captain from the 101st Airborne Brigade to fly out with us and show us the AO (Area of Operations). As we flew low-level down a road, the captain told Six not to go beyond the village that we were approaching. “Why not?” inquired the major.
“Because everything on the other side belongs to Charlie.”
“Not anymore it doesn’t!”
— Ron Chapman, “Flying with Major Beasley,” pp.99-100, in Hunter-Killer Squadron: Aero-Weapons, Aero-Scouts, Aero-Rifles, Vietnam 1965-1972, edited by Matthew Brennan, Pocket Books, 1992.
Now while the series of undeclared, anti-Constitutional conflicts in southeast Asia weren’t the best thing for America, MAJ Beasley did have the right attitude towards his specified duties — he took the proverbial bull by the horns and took the fight to the enemy’s rear areas.
And that’s exactly the same sort of attitude that I want to display here at The Weekly Sedition.
I want those on the “enemy” side to know that there aren’t any “safe” issues or constituencies for them.
I want to free the world for everyone, not just the conservatives, not just the liberals, or just for any specific group.
