Unions built the American middle class. We owe the 40-hour work week, minimum wage, and child labor laws all to the work of organized labor and unions. They are a force against income inequality and we need them now more than ever. As a member of the Labor and Working Families Caucus and a former member of the Teamsters Union, I am fighting for you every day. I am proud to be a cosponsor of The Protecting the Right to Organize Act to expand protections for workers who exercise their right to unionize. I also voted to pass the Raise the Wage Act, which would increase the federal minimum wage for the first time in a decade.
