If the sheriffs who are opposed to the red-flag victim disarmament bill need to resign for refusing to enforce it, then those public officials who sponsored it, pushed it through the Roundhouse, signed it, or otherwise supported in the first place should resign for their blatant and willful disregard and violation of Article II, Sections 6 and 18 of the State Constitution.
What part of Article XX, Section 1 allows them to blow off parts of the State Constitution for which they don’t personally care?

“SANTA FE – New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed a red-flag gun bill Tuesday that will allow state district courts to order the temporary surrender of firearms, and she urged sheriffs to resign if they still refuse to enforce it.”

Is Chafee high on his own ego, as Mr Bill the Original Weldist seemed to be?

“no Gary in the race”
At this point, Chafee is close enough for my taste on the “L”P side of things.
For what it’s worth, Mr Bill the Original Weldist keeps sending me fundraising emails, with the line that “our message is resonating.”
Does 1.3 % in the Iowa caucuses seriously count as “resonating” ? How about that for every vote Mr. Bill got in the New Hampshire primary, Trump got six votes?

“Gun violence” is a perjorative phrase designed to instill a fear of firearms in the uninformed.
Get back to us when you’re equally concerned about “knife violence” (stabbings and slashings), “car violence” (hit and run attacks), “axe violence,” “blunt-object violence” and “bare-handed violence” (assault and battery).

I think it was between 1st and 2nd grade [mid-1970s] that my tonsils and adenoids were removed in Romania.
I was dragged (yes, dragged, because I didn’t want to go because no one told me why I was there) into a room that was filthy even by the standards of a person (me) who lived in a very old house with dirt floors and an outhouse and chickens and rabbits raised for food in the back yard.
I was barefoot and wearing a hospital gown. I was strapped into a dentist chair with the stuffing peeking out of the many rips that had been hand sewn somewhat shut.
They knocked me out with chloroform.
When I woke up, my pillow was drenched in blood (mine). No one had cleaned me up (because at some point I’d voided both my bladder and bowels). There was no ice. No pain medication. Nothing for the swelling. No antibiotics. You either lived or you didn’t.
This is what you’re voting for when you vote for single-payer, for “free” (if you don’t count the bribes) healthcare.

Use the underground parking garage under Civic Plaza for the shelter location. That way, all of the overpaid, underworked City employees can spend an extra 30 minutes driving around the Downtown area looking for parking, like the rest of us end up doing when we have to go Downtown.
